Nelson: Infrastructure Grants Advance Much-Needed Projects

January 21, 2026

HARRISBURG – Rep. Eric Nelson (R-Westmoreland) announced more than $4 million in grants to complete infrastructure projects will be distributed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA).

“These are big wins for our area. With storm water improvements to reduce flooding, intersection improvements to support business growth and increasing recreation opportunities for families, these grants represent key community investments which have positive impact for all,” Nelson said. “A special thanks to Sen. Kim Ward as she is a great ally in helping to ensure our neighborhoods are prioritized.”

The CFA is an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development. It distributes funding through several programs dedicated to economic growth. The grants awarded are through the Multimodal Transportation and the Small Water and Sewer grant programs.

In all, $4,019,929 was awarded in the 57th Legislative District, including:

• Hempfield Township, $1.75 million to complete streetscape and walkway improvements and stormwater improvements near Country Club Estates.
• City of Greensburg, $569,929 to establish four miles of new bicycle routes and flood control improvements to Jack’s Run.
• Westmoreland County, $1.7 million to improve the intersection of Route 30 and George's Station Road.
